D. SCOT MACPHERSON AIA

PRINCIPAL

Scot MacPherson has pursued a 30 year passion exploring the relationship between professional practice and education. He feels strongly that designing and building structures have made him a better teacher just as teaching has made him a better Architect.

After receiving a Master of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis, Scot joined The Architects Collarborative (TAC), in Cambridge, MA. Walter Gropius, one of the leading Architects of the 20th century, founded TAC. Gropius also founded the Bauhaus in the 1920’s and later became Dean of the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. As an Associate at TAC for 10 years and Designer-in-Charge, Scot created award wining projects around the world with numerous projects published in Architectural books and periodicals. Scot’s collaborative spirit and interest in Architecture and Art continued as he joined his wife, Kate to form a firm.

As an Architect and Artist, Scot continues to explore his dialogue between Art and Architecture through MacPherson Architect’s award winning projects. Along with his wife and partner, Kate, their firm has been recognized as a force for creating and implementing evocative Architecture throughout all phases of the firms projects.

Mr. MacPherson has practiced and taught throughout the career. Scot currently is also Lecturer of Architecture at Bowling Green State University. Scot has lectured at numerous Universities, and has been a guest juror at Harvard University, MIT, Rhode Island School of Design, and the University of Michigan.
